Shopping

We went to Goodwill for costumes for the school play the other day. The smell in there is so terrible- it's like a combination of cherry cough medicine and body odor. When we were done, we opened the door to leave, and the beautiful day had turned into a hectic, windy gray sky. There were branches blowing around and everything, it was like there was a tornado! So after convincing Laura's mom that we may as well just go to Park City (I'm still not sure how we pulled that one off) we went shopping to get Laura a prom dress- she found the perfect one at Ann Taylor Loft. It's so beautiful, I almost cried! It's the perfect length, hitting just below her knees, and shimmies and shines when she walks. She looks like a princess! She picked out a nice pearl bracelet with a fake flower to wear with it. It's quite the classy look.
It's a purple version of this, without the ribbon tie thing and there's some fringe-ish things around the bustline.

Rehearsal

Today, Laura brought extra avocado for me in her lunch bag. It was so nice! And it went exceptionally well with my school caf salad, if I do say so myself. After school, we went into the cafeteria and bought ice cream (her a Nutty Buddy, me a Strawberry Shortcake). We then headed down to the middle school auditorium that we've come to dislike. Honestly, it's feels pointless being in a play when you don't have a major part. Or even a minor part, for that matter. Laura and I have microscopic roles where we each have only a couple lines. Unfortunately, that means that we are also townspeople, and we have to show up at every rehearsal. Basically, we show up for two hours every day at school and sit in the auditorium listening to my brother's iPod touch, then go up and sit on stage for 3 seconds during the "chorus" scene. It's so ridiculous! Today, we jammed to My Life Would Suck Without You and some Carrie Underwood selections, while playing Flight Control (want an addiction? there's an app for that.). What's more is that we don't particularly enjoy the company of the other participants- a little too obsessed with attention for my taste. No lie, I heard one say after rehearsal "Goodbye, fellow thespians!". Is this what society has stooped to? Anyway, at least I have Laura to bear it with me.

Tennis

Tonight, we played a laid-back game of tennis at the college courts. There were college security officers doing surveillance work in the parking lot next to us, but there was nothing of interest within a mile. So, naturally, we waved obnoxiously and made about a million jokes about them. Fun, fun :-)

Flashback

I flipped on the TV tonight, and my fingers instinctively entered the two magical digits for Disney Channel (46, for those of you who were wondering). Anyway, High School Musical 3: Senior Year was on, and I totally flashbacked to when Laura and me saw it in theaters. It was awesome, I wanted to sing and dance the next day at school. Then I remembered that the majority of my class would frown upon my glorification of a movie produced for audiences of girls 10 and under. So I had to resist (with much effort) singing "Scream" when my math teacher issued an overdose of homework ONCE AGAIN. I'm sure Laura can relate. She's famous in our school for singing and dancing on top of the caf tables at lunch. And yes, I'm kidding.

Half-Day Fun

Last Wednesday was a half-day for our school. We went to Laura's house with two other friends (Haley and Bri) and ordered pizza- one half-sausage and half-Hawaiian, the other plain cheese. Bri and me hid in Laura's mom's car (she was driving to work, which goes by my house) to go to my house and get my beloved volleyball. We thought we were so tricky! Well, on the way back, we heard a noise behind us, and turned to see Haley and Laura running behind us! Bri and me screamed and laughed- it was so funny! We had a whole plan to sneak into the back of Laura's house without being heard, and it was foiled. Later, the four of us were playing volleyball in the front yard and Haley and Laura left suddenly. Bri and me knew something was up, but we couldn't be torn away from volleyball. About fifteen minutes later, the two come out of the house looking shady. Before I can even note this aloud, my capri pant leg is suddenly soaked and covered in little plastic bits that look suspiciously like pieces of water balloon. We all laughed when Laura commented that it took them so long because she accidentally dropped one balloon in the kitchen, leaving a huge puddle right under the dinner table.
It was 2:40, and Bri and Haley needed to be at the school for a soccer game at 3, so they went on their way. Laura and me retreated into the house for some iced coffee, multigrain chips, and excellent books that we brought outside into the lovely 75 degree sun for a "reading party". She was reading Along for the Ride, me Nineteen Minutes. Because it was getting to be later in the day, we had to keep adjusting to the sun- it was so chilly in the shade! We read for almost 3 hours, alternating between that and some sweet volleyball peppering (sort of like a mini version of volleyball, but for two people). It was 5:00pm now, and Laura's mom pulled into the driveway. She took a picture of us reading, which I will try to track down and post, and then showed us some neat mini birdhouses that we can paint and hang in our gardens (Laura is growing a vegetable and herb-themed garden, me a flower garden). Since Laura's youth group was coming over at 6:00, I decided to stay and watch The Blind Side with them. If you haven't seen it yet, you need to. It's powerful and excellent. All in all, I got home around 9:40 from an awesome day.

The Idea

Hello, world. Today I had an awesome idea. See, my best friend and I do this thing every year called our "Friendiversary" (Basically a celebration of our since-birth friendship) on January 23. It's the day we made up from a huge fight in 9th grade. Anyway, we always try to come up with unique gift ideas...and this is mine. It's a blog dedicated to documenting this year of our friendship, and it will be my Friendiversary present for January 23, 2011.
